Cider has been made in the Hudson Valley for more than two centuries. Visit the Angry Orchard Innovation Cider House to learn about hard cider and try samples of ciders, some available only at the orchard. The site of the orchard started as a farm in the 1700s and apple trees were first planted more than a century ago. Specialty tours include treehouse tastings and barrel room tours.

The renovations included building out a large bar area on the top floor of the building where guests can enjoy a variety of ciders while overlooking the pressing room and cellar. Additionally, the team revamped the downstairs taproom which looks out at the Shawangunk Mountain Ridge. Introducing Dive Bar Hot Sauce - a culinary collaboration between The Champagne of Beers, Miller High Life and Chef Sam Davis-Allonce of the cult-favorite hot sauce brand, Hot N Saucy. The tasting room interior contains a custom-built fir bar, plenty of tables, and a great variety of Angry Orchard hard cider on tap.

Angry Orchard is located in Walden, NY which is in the Hudson Valley. You can drive up or take the train via the Metro- North line. A single beefy white pine tree hosts the tasting room treehouse. With Mother's Day coming up soon, it's a great time to consider gifts that will delight moms and the mother figures in our lives. The outdoor dining is picnic tables set out by the orchard and overlooking the Hudson Valley. They make pizza’s in-house and then have additional food trucks come on the weekends, so you never fully know what you will get. They also have all their ciders here to try, and it is quite the extensive list! The Hudson Valley in New York is home to some incredible hikes, great views and awesome towns with good eats. What many don’t realize is that it’s also home to the Angry Orchard cider house. After discovering that Angry Orchard had a cider house in NY, we quickly booked a tour, headed up for a day trip from NYC and were blown away by this incredible venue.

Cider, the fermented alcoholic beverage made from fruit juice, most commonly and traditionally apple juice, but also the juice of peaches, pears, or other fruit. Guests can admire the vast apple orchards and Catskill Mountains while they sip their ciders. Rolf Hefti, a talented craftsman with the Nelson Treehouse and Supply crew, hand carved this stunning arch with the iconic tree face from Angry Orchard’s hard cider label. The drive is 80 miles from Manhattan and will take about 2 hours. As with all city driving, the drive will be traffic dependent.

The Angry Orchard cider makers chose to make a cider with pears because like apples, they have a long history in Europe as a traditional fruit used to make alcoholic beverages. Perry, as an example, is a pear-based drink that has been a longtime favorite in the U.K. While Angry Orchard Pear is not a perry because it's made with both apples and pears, it brings the nostalgic flavors of the harvest to life with a balanced yet complex taste. Angry Orchard Pear blends domestic pears such as Bartlett, D'Anjou and Bosc, and culinary apples such as Gala, Fuji, Golden Delicious and Granny Smith.

We spent about 3 hours at the orchard, but you can easily spend longer or less- depending on your timelines! If you have some spare time, we recommend checking out the town of Beacon.
